Lost Since Returning - Any Advice Appreciated
Hi all,
Well a bit of background, I started playing Prophecies shortly after it was released maxed all character slots with max levels characters, my main a W/Mo had full FoW armour, and I took part in a highly successful top end runners guild. Due to a number of reasons I had to quit. Recently signed back in and noticed now there is Factions, Nightfall and EOTN. I figured I would re-roll a new character in Prophecies to try and ease myself back into the game, but it seems like so much has changed. Just wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what I should do, resources I could read to fill the void of information. I am looking to get well established into the game before GW2 is released and am well considering buying the missing expansions but at the moment I just can't get back into the game, and feel that so much has been released since I have been gone that it might be too late to get into. Any advice would be much appreciated. |

Well as for resources to help you ease back into play, both of the wikis will help you vastly.
http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Main_Page http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Main_Page If you're into PVP, it will be hard, though not impossible, to be competive with only the Prophecies and core skills. But besides that, you should be fine, as no HUGE updates have been made that have radically altered the game. |

It's not too late to get back into the game. You do have to get the other 3 games though. So many new builds have skills that span across all four games.

Welcome back!!
I think the idea or re-rolling a new character in prophecies is a good idea, so you can get back into game mechanics. I would definitely buy Factions, Nightfall and GWEN, they all offer useful skills. I guess if I had to skip one, it would be factions. Another option is buying Nightfall first, and re-rolling a character there. You will have access to Heroes that can help you advance. Then hop back onto Prophecies, and Gwen... and Factions, if you get all of them. Heroes can use any skills you have unlocked in your account, so they can use whatever you have already capped/bought and whatever else you get with a new character. Another option, is taking one of your level 20's to Nightfall and complete that chapter. If you do most of the quests, the How-To- Play should come back to you quickly. And remember, you have the different sections here in Guru for each chapter, as well as this area to ask questions. Good Luck!!

As I understand it Eye of the North (GWEN) is on sale currently at Target for $10. That is too good of a deal to miss out on. So it might be a good idea to get that one now if nothing else. Your mature characters can easily gain access to heros and you can try things out. (Heros are better, more intelligent henchmen.) This way you've made a minimal investment and obtained new material to play. All of the other products are about as big in size as EoTN (approx).
Note that Factions is somewhat more geared to PvP (60/40 split), characters advance quicker in the beginning there. But the mid game is ugly and a bit confusing. Nightfall plays substantially differently from what you're used to. Running is not really an option in it. You can run a couple zones in length, yes. But nothing like the Drok's run in importance. Mandatory quests/missions prevent new players from reaching Uber armor / areas and power-leveling as much. |

If you don't want to give up any of your characters and want to just add a slot you can buy another character slot for $10 in the online store. I would buy Nightfall for the hero's and link the accounts and you will get two more character slots, hero's, and a new game.
